Happiness is stumbling upon exceptional street art ...

Mulan was one of the first Disney movies that made me really THINK. A single child and former geisha-to-be, fighting for her country's honour, while impersonating a male warrior. The plot embodies feminism. Most of all, it made me love the adorned culture of east asia.

Nothing quite beats the feeling of finding a mural that makes you literally stop and stare. Abbot kinney Blvd. in the Venice Beach district of LA is scattered with examples of epic street art work. The pieces fit in effortlessly into the backdrop of this flamboyant wonderland of a boulevard ... almost as though they had occupied the space first! Maybe the street with all it's hipster glory was built around them? Maybe we are the imposters in the presence of these quirky creations. Nonetheless, they are, for like of a better word ... Awesome!

I fell in love with Abbot Kinney over a year ago now during a summer abroad, just as much as I was infatuated with this mysterious Japanese Geisha goddess towering over me.

Cue: Impromptu photo shoot.

Also, this being my very first post, welcome to Radical!

Graffiti is one of the few tools you have if you have almost nothing. And even if you don’t come up with a picture to cure world poverty you can make someone smile while they’re having a piss.
